[About the actual machine]
- The F-104J Starfighter [Eiko] was a fighter interceptor used by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force from 1962 to 1997.
- Development began in the United States in 1952, and the first flight was in 1954.
- The US Air Force began operating it in 1954.
- It had a unique style that resembled a rocket with wings, and was powered by a General Electric J79 turbojet engine. It had a top speed of Mach 2.
- In addition to the United States, it was also adopted by Germany and other North Atlantic Treaty Organization countries, and was deployed by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
- The single-seater F-104J and the two-seater F-104DJ were deployed, with an estimated 210 F-104Js deployed.

[About the model]
- This is a 1/48 scale plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the F-104J operated by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
- The finished overall length is approximately 347mm, and the parts are made by Kinetech with a sharp finish, realistically recreating the distinctive slim and sharp appearance.
- Not only the shape but also the panel lines are expressed firmly, giving a real sense of the finished product.
- The detailed reproduction of the aircraft is of a high quality, unique to the 1/48 scale model. The detailed depiction of the interior of the cockpit, the legs, and the inside of the leg storage compartment enhances the finish.
- In addition, the radar is modeled inside the nose cone, and the airbrake can be assembled either open or closed, and the equipment cover at the rear of the cockpit can also be assembled open or closed.
- The markings are reproduced using decals made by Cartograf of Italy, which are the markings on the F-104 aircraft of the 205th Squadron that participated in the air combat and combat arts competitions held in 1980.
